Hands Down.   My Mom

When you think of the word “successful,” who’s the first person that comes to mind and why?

I would unequivocally have to say my mom. My dad left her when I was just 7 years old never to be seen again. She had three young daughters, no job, no friends. The only friends she had been around were his friends. She got work as a nurse’s aide in the long term care wing of the local hospital where she worked until she retired well after I was married, earning several pins and certificates for her compassionate care of elderly patients with Alzheimer’s, cancer, etc.  Even when we had little, she found ways to share with those who had less.
