I have a strand of fake, cosmetic pearls that were my husband’s grandmother’s. She wore them everyday while sitting in her recliner, smoking and watching Minnesota Twins baseball. I inherited them when she passed, and I have worn them everyday to work for 23 years. They have been a great conversation piece!

My youngest son
My youngest son, who is now 23, has autism. I call him my “gentle giant.” He has such a big heart. He is generous and hates to see people sad or hurting.
His Mother’s Day note was sweet and simple “No matter what happens, Mom, I will always love you and am grateful for what you always do for me.”

Being unburdened
I have several dear friends and family members going through very difficult times right now. So this prompt spoke to me differently. More often than not, we think of freedom as the freedom “TO”. To me, it is the freedom “FROM” and being unburdened. Freedom from the stress of being jobless for six months and not being able to provide for your family. Freedom from the pain of sickness and being whole to enjoy activities. Freedom from the guilt of past mistakes and that it’s okay to err and those mistakes are stepping stones.
