If you could be someone else for a day, who would you be, and why?
I have no desire to be another person. I am content being me. However sometimes when I leave for work I would love to trade places with my cat…all curled up in a ball in the sun, getting up occasionally for food, and flopping back down for scratches when I desire
My husband and I joke about our long-lasting marriage. We have been married for over 30 years. It’s because we do not do home improvement projects together. Both tools and insults will probably fly. My daughter and I love DIY crafting. We are currently working on redecorating her living space with pastel blues, blacks, and florals.

Describe the most ambitious DIY project you’ve ever taken on.
Physicality…Sports commentators should have a clause in their contracts that they will not use this word on air. I understand it is recognized as an official word. I have no grammatical reasoning for the ban. It is overused, annoying, and tiresome to hear it after every sack, touchdown, field goal, and tackle. The end.
Daily writing prompt
If you could permanently ban a word from general usage, which one would it be? Why?
The past two years have been incredibly challenging for my husband and me. We have navigated some of the most difficult times since we were married. Unemployment, the death of my sister, the death of his dad, a cross country move. Now that we have made it through those valleys on our way to the other side, I face new challenges. I must recognize that it is okay to take a break. It is okay to relax and take a breath. That something bad won’t happen if I stop for a little while.
Daily writing prompt
What is the biggest challenge you will face in the next six months?
Make a wise and conscientious decision about who you are going to hang out with and “do” life with! Being popular is never worth it. The wrong friends can lead you to make one mistake. This mistake can ruin your life and follow you forever.
Never say no to learning! Get outside with nature. READ BOOKS. Take that extra class. Take the harder class. Do the extra credit. It all matters down the road.
Work! Help your parents with the chores, the lawn work. A part time job is not demeaning. What a part time job can teach you about time management, interpersonal skills, communication will be valuable later on.

Margarite and Natalie stood on the beach, the gentle breeze whispering secrets through the palm trees. They had come to Diamond Island seeking a blissful escape, but now, they were on a mission. The island’s luxurious facade had crumbled, revealing a dark underbelly of greed and deceit. They knew they couldn’t fight this alone. They needed allies, people who saw the truth, who were willing to stand up against the corrupt forces that had taken over their paradise.
“We need to spread the word,” Natalie said, her voice firm despite the tremor of fear in her chest. “We can’t let them get away with this.”
Margarite nodded, her eyes scanning the beach. Guests, oblivious to the truth, sipped cocktails and basked in the sun, their laughter echoing through the air. It felt surreal, knowing that beneath this idyllic surface lurked a sinister plot.
Their first stop was the little beachside bar where they had first met the mysterious local, Liam. He had warned them about the island’s secrets, and they knew he held valuable information. Liam was a fisherman, his weathered face a testament to the harsh beauty of the Caribbean. He listened intently as Margarite and Natalie recounted their harrowing discoveries – the hidden cave, the strange symbols, the menacing figures.
“They’ve been doing this for years, taking advantage of the island’s beauty,” Liam said, his voice low and gravelly. “They lure people in, make them believe it’s paradise, then exploit them for their own gain.”
Liam’s words ignited a fire of defiance within Margarite and Natalie.
They weren’t just fighting for themselves anymore; they were fighting for everyone caught in this web of lies. They needed to expose the truth, to warn the guests and empower them to stand up.
“We need your help,” Margarite pleaded. “We know you’re not alone in knowing what’s going on. We need to find others who want to stop this.”
Liam’s gaze was intense, filled with a mixture of fear and determination. He knew the risks, the dangers of confronting the island’s powerful forces. But he also knew the cost of silence.
“I know a few people who might listen,” he said, his voice hesitant. “But they’re afraid. They’ve seen what happens to those who speak out.”
Hope flickered in Natalie’s eyes. “We need to show them it’s not about fear. It’s about justice. It’s about reclaiming this island for what it truly is: a paradise, not a prison.”
Liam agreed to help them gather their allies, to find those who shared their vision. They spent the next few hours whispering their story to anyone who would listen. They approached the guests who seemed kind and curious, those who had a flicker of suspicion in their eyes. They sought out the island staff who, despite their fear, held secrets that could expose the truth.
One by one, they formed a small but growing army of dissent. They were not warriors, not trained soldiers. They were ordinary people, vacationers and workers, united by a shared desire to right a wrong, to reclaim their paradise.
The gathering took place under the shade of a majestic banyan tree, its sprawling branches offering a sense of security. They whispered about their plan, their voices hushed, their fear a constant companion. They knew their mission was risky, but they also knew they couldn’t stay silent any longer.
“They’ve been playing their game for too long,” said a young waitress named Maya, her voice trembling slightly. “But we’re not going to let them win.”
The others nodded, a sense of shared purpose filling the air. They knew they were outnumbered, outmatched, but their determination burned bright. They had found each other, and in each other, they found the courage to stand up against the darkness.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the beach, Margarite and Natalie knew they had taken the first step towards justice. They had gathered their allies, uniting a community that had been silenced for far too long. They were ready to face the island’s enforcers, to expose the truth and reclaim their paradise. The final showdown was about to begin.
The Climactic Confrontation
The air crackled with tension as the island’s enforcers, their faces hardened and eyes narrowed, closed in on Margarite, Natalie, and their unlikely band of allies. The sun, once a symbol of paradise, now seemed to cast an ominous glow on the scene, illuminating the fear etched on the faces of those who dared to stand against the island’s corrupt regime.
Earlier that day, the girls, armed with the truth they had painstakingly unearthed, had rallied other guests and locals who had grown suspicious of the island’s seemingly perfect façade. They had gathered in a small clearing, hidden amongst the lush vegetation, sharing their harrowing discoveries and igniting a spark of defiance in the hearts of their fellow islanders.
A hush fell over the crowd as Margarite, her voice ringing with newfound confidence, outlined the island’s dark secrets. “For years, this paradise has been a gilded cage, a playground for the rich and powerful, where the truth is buried beneath a layer of luxury and deceit,” she declared, her gaze sweeping across the faces of those who had become her comrades in this unexpected fight. “We’ve seen their greed, their cruelty, and their twisted games. We’ve witnessed the destruction they’ve wrought, the lives they’ve ruined. But no more! Today, we stand together, united against the darkness that has consumed Diamond Island.”
Natalie, her eyes blazing with righteous anger, added, “We may be outnumbered, but we have something they don’t: the truth. We have the courage to stand up for what’s right. We will not be silenced. We will not be intimidated. We will expose their secrets to the world!”
The crowd, energized by their passionate words, erupted in cheers, their voices a chorus of resistance against the encroaching darkness.
The air was thick with anticipation, the silence that followed the cheers heavy with the weight of the impending confrontation.
The enforcers, their numbers vastly exceeding those of the rebels, advanced slowly, their movements deliberate and menacing. They were armed with batons and tasers, their faces devoid of any emotion except cold, calculated aggression. The clash was inevitable, a showdown between the forces of darkness and those who dared to stand against them.
Margarite, her heart pounding in her chest, drew a deep breath and rallied her allies. “Stay calm. Stay together. And remember, we fight for what’s right. We fight for freedom. We fight for the future of Diamond Island!”
With those words, the battle commenced. The enforcers, their faces contorted in a grotesque grimace, charged forward, swinging their batons with brutal force. The rebels, caught off guard by the sudden attack, scattered, their cries and shouts blending with the snapping of branches and the thud of bodies hitting the ground.
Natalie, her agile movements a blur, weaved through the chaotic melee, her eyes searching for the source of the violence. She spotted a tall, imposing figure at the heart of the conflict, a man with a scar that slashed across his cheek, a grim smile playing on his lips. He was the island’s chief enforcer, a ruthless and merciless man who had terrorized the island for years.
“This ends now!” he snarled, raising his baton to strike Natalie, his eyes burning with hatred. Natalie, however, was quicker. She dodged his attack with ease, landing a swift kick that sent him reeling back. His expression shifted from anger to surprise, a rare flicker of vulnerability in his hardened gaze.
The fight raged on, the air thick with the scent of sweat, fear, and desperation. The rebels, despite their smaller numbers, fought with surprising ferocity, fueled by their belief in the cause. They were outnumbered, but not outmatched.
Margarite, her heart pounding in her chest, fought side-by-side with the other rebels, her adrenaline pumping, her mind focused solely on the task at hand. She had trained in martial arts for years, and her skills were coming in handy, allowing her to hold her own against the more physically imposing enforcers.
As the battle reached its peak, the enforcers, their ranks thinning and their morale dwindling, began to falter. The rebels, sensing the turning tide, pressed their advantage, their cries of defiance growing louder, their movements becoming more aggressive.
Suddenly, a piercing scream shattered the din of the fight. Natalie, her eyes wide with horror, saw the chief enforcer, his face contorted in a mask of rage, raise his weapon to strike a young woman who had fallen to the ground.
She knew she had to act. Without hesitation, she lunged forward, her body moving with the speed and grace of a panther. She slammed into the chief enforcer, her momentum throwing him off balance. He stumbled back, his grip on the weapon loosening.
Natalie seized her chance, disarming him with a swift move, sending the weapon flying into the air before crashing to the ground.
The chief enforcer, his eyes filled with hatred, lunged at Natalie, his fist clenched tight. But she was ready for him. She dodged his attack, her body weaving in and out of his reach, her eyes never leaving his.
The battle raged on, the two of them locked in a deadly dance, their movements a blur of motion. Natalie, despite her smaller stature, was a formidable opponent, her agility and speed giving her the edge. The chief enforcer, despite his size and strength, was losing his composure, his frustration growing with each failed attempt to land a blow.
The climax of the fight came with a swiftness that surprised even Natalie. She saw her chance, her opportunity to strike when he least expected it. As he lunged forward, she met his attack head-on, her fist connecting with his jaw. The sound of the impact echoed through the clearing, a sickening crack that sent a shiver down the spines of those who witnessed it.
The chief enforcer, his eyes wide with shock, stumbled back, his body swaying precariously. Natalie knew this was her chance to finish him. With a swift movement, she landed a powerful kick to his chest, sending him crashing to the ground. He lay there, defeated and helpless, his chest heaving, his eyes glazed over.
Silence descended upon the clearing, a heavy, suffocating silence that was broken only by the sound of the rebels’ ragged breaths and the faint rustling of the wind through the trees.
Margarite, her heart pounding in her chest, approached the fallen chief enforcer, her eyes filled with a mixture of anger and pity. She had seen the darkness that had consumed him, the ruthlessness that had twisted his soul. She knew that he was a victim of the island’s corrupt regime, just like the others.
“It’s over,” she said, her voice low and firm. “You are free.”
She leaned down and untied the restraints that bound his hands and feet. He looked up at her, his eyes filled with a mixture of confusion and fear.
“You’re not going to hurt me?” he whispered.
Margarite shook her head. “No,” she said. “We’re not here to hurt you. We’re here to help you.”
She looked at him with a sadness that touched his heart. “I know you’ve done terrible things,” she said. “But I also know you can be better. You can choose to be better.”
The chief enforcer, his eyes filled with tears, nodded slowly. “I’m sorry,” he whispered. “I’m so sorry for what I’ve done.”
Margarite placed a hand on his shoulder. “It’s not too late,” she said. “You can still change. You can still be a good man.”
She turned and walked away, leaving the chief enforcer lying on the ground, his eyes following her every move. She knew that his journey to redemption would be long and difficult, but she believed in him, in his capacity for change. She believed that he could find his way back from the darkness that had consumed him.
The battle was over, the island’s corrupt regime defeated, but the fight for justice had only just begun. Margarite, Natalie, and their allies had exposed the truth and freed the island from the grip of tyranny, but there was still much work to be done. They had to rebuild, to heal the wounds that had been inflicted, to create a new future for Diamond Island, a future where the truth could finally flourish, a future where the islanders could live in peace and harmony.
They had faced the darkness and emerged victorious, their courage and determination a testament to the human spirit’s indomitable will. They had shown the world that even in the darkest of times, hope could still prevail, that even the most formidable of adversaries could be defeated, that even in the face of overwhelming odds, the power of unity could triumph. They had proven that the fight for justice, no matter how long and arduous, was a fight worth waging.
As the sun began to set, casting long shadows across the clearing, the rebels gathered around Margarite and Natalie, their faces beaming with pride, their hearts filled with gratitude. They had faced their fears and emerged stronger, their bonds of friendship forged in the crucible of adversity, their spirits soaring with the knowledge that they had made a difference, that they had helped to shape the future of Diamond Island.
The island’s secrets had been revealed, the illusion of paradise shattered. The truth had been exposed, and the darkness had been vanquished. But the journey was far from over. Margarite and Natalie, their hearts filled with hope, knew that their adventure was far from over. They had tasted victory, but they also knew that their fight for justice was only just beginning. They were determined to rebuild the island, to create a future where truth and freedom could finally prevail, where the islanders could live in peace and harmony. And they knew that they would face new challenges, new dangers, new adventures along the way. But they were ready. They were ready to face whatever came their way, united and strong, ready to fight for what was right, ready to make a difference in the world.
