Ready to laugh?  Enclosed air conditioned tractors 😁

The most important invention in your lifetime is…

I realize this will date me but I am okay with that.  When I was 12 I started working each summer on a dairy farm for a family in our church.  Their tractors were the first vehicle I ever learned to drive.  They had hard metal seats, no cab.  You were in the open, hot sun, or rain or wind. When I was 17, the family was able to purchase their first tractor with a cab, padded seats, air conditioning and AM/FM radio. It was a glorious summer 🌞

My ideal day…one can dream

Describe your most ideal day from beginning to end.

I would get up and take a few laps in my indoor swimming pool, make an espresso and read my Bible as I watch the sun come up across the lake.  I would hit the thrift stores for bargains to sell in my online store.  Then grab lunch as I lock myself in my study to focus on writing and blogging.  Then it’s dinner with the hubby as we watch news or sports

We thought we were living in the lap of luxury 🤣

Write about your first computer.

My husband and I got our first computer in 1995 just after our daughter was born. We had saved up and it was a complex setup of cords (NOT color coded to match ports) and speakers and a CPU unit, dot matrix printer and a trial month of AOL .  Our kids laugh when they hear how much we paid for the conglomeration and what it took to set up and waiting endlessly for the email tone.  They don’t know the struggle 😁

Hot Air Balloon Rides: No Way, Nope, Not Ever, Not Gonna Happen

My husband has always wanted us to do a hot air balloon ride together. In Colorado, this was an extremely popular hobby. I hate heights and despise any activity that requires me to leave solid ground and go into the air. And while we are at it, we can throw in hang gliding, parachuting, skydiving and any other height-related insanity. 🙂

“Truth Revealed, Betrayal in Paradise” Chapters 16 & 17 on Diamond Island (Two chapter bonus!)

The Truth Revealed

The salty air whipped around them, carrying the scent of seawater and something else, something faintly metallic that made Margarite wrinkle her nose. They stood on the balcony of their luxurious suite, overlooking the vast expanse of the Caribbean Sea. Diamond Island, a secluded haven of opulence and exclusivity, was theirs for the taking – or so they’d thought.

“It’s too perfect,” Natalie murmured, echoing Margarite’s unease. “Like something out of a movie.”

Margarite nodded, her gaze sweeping over the meticulously manicured gardens, the pristine white sand beach, the sparkling infinity pool. The entire island seemed to radiate an unnatural perfection, a polished facade that hid a darker truth beneath the surface.

The day before, they’d arrived on the island, winners of a dream vacation contest. Excitement had quickly morphed into suspicion as they encountered peculiar staff members and strangely silent guests. The island’s inhabitants seemed to be playing a carefully choreographed role, their smiles too broad, their conversations too scripted. It was as if they were acting in a play, and the audience was oblivious to the script.

The first clue to the island’s sinister undercurrent had come in the form of an old journal, unearthed by Margarite during their exploration of the forbidden zone. The journal was bound in worn leather, its pages filled with faded ink and cryptic entries.

“The island is a prison,” the journal’s author wrote in a shaky hand, “Trapped by a web of deceit and danger.”

Natalie shivered, her fingers tracing the faded words. “This is scary,” she whispered. “What if the journal is real?”

“We have to find out,” Margarite replied, her determination hardening. “We can’t just ignore this.”

They had spent the past few hours decoding the journal’s cryptic messages, piecing together a fragmented history of the island and its previous inhabitants. The journal hinted at a dark past, a tale of exploitation and corruption, hidden beneath the idyllic surface.

Now, armed with the journal’s revelations, they stood face-to-face with the island’s owner, Mr. Alistair Diamond, a man whose smile was as smooth and deceptive as the island itself.

“So, you’ve found my little treasure,” he said, his voice dripping with false charm. “The journal, a relic of the past, a whimsical tale of a bygone era.”

“It’s not a tale,” Margarite countered, her voice firm. “It’s a warning, a reminder of the island’s true nature.”

Diamond chuckled, a sharp, brittle sound that echoed in the silence of the balcony. “My dear girl, you’re letting your imagination run wild. This island is a haven, a paradise for those who appreciate the finer things in life.”

“But it’s not just about the finer things, is it?” Natalie intervened. “There’s something more, something hidden.”

Diamond’s smile faltered for a moment, but he quickly recovered, his eyes twinkling with a chillingly playful glint.

“You girls are so clever, so inquisitive. But sometimes, it’s best to let sleeping dogs lie.”

“We can’t let sleeping dogs lie when the dogs are barking,” Margarite retorted, her voice gaining strength with every word. “We’ve seen the evidence, Mr. Diamond. We know what’s going on here.”

The silence stretched, taut and charged, as the tension between them thickened. Mr. Diamond’s facade began to crack, his smile becoming a strained grimace.

“You’ve gone too far,” he growled, his voice losing its jovial tone. “You’ve uncovered things you shouldn’t have.”

“We didn’t uncover anything,” Margarite said, her voice steady despite the fear that gnawed at her. “It was already there, hidden in plain sight. It’s just that someone, someone like you, decided to hide it.”

Diamond’s eyes narrowed, his gaze drilling into them, cold and calculating. “You’re making a grave mistake, girls. This is a dangerous game you’re playing.”

“We’re not playing games,” Natalie interjected. “We’re trying to expose the truth.”

Diamond stepped closer, his shadow looming over them. “The truth can be a dangerous thing,” he whispered, his breath warm on their faces. “It can be fatal.”

“We’re not afraid,” Margarite countered, her gaze meeting his, unwavering. “We’re here to uncover the truth, no matter the cost.”

Diamond chuckled again, the sound chillingly mirthless. “You’re brave, I’ll give you that. But brave doesn’t always mean smart. You’re messing with forces beyond your comprehension, forces that will not hesitate to crush you.”

Margarite took a step forward, her fear replaced by a burning sense of righteousness. “We’re not afraid of you, Mr. Diamond. We’re not afraid of your threats. We’re going to expose you, and your island, for what you really are.”

Diamond’s face twisted into a mask of rage. “You’ll regret this, girls. You’ll regret ever coming to this island.”

As Diamond turned to leave, his gaze lingered on them, a silent threat that hung heavy in the air. The balcony felt suddenly cold, the warmth of the Caribbean sun replaced by a chilling dread.

The girls stood there, silent, their hearts pounding in their chests. They had crossed a line, pushed too far, and now the island’s dark secrets were slowly revealing themselves, exposing the insidious truth hidden beneath the surface.

The events that followed were a blur of chaos and fear. The idyllic setting of Diamond Island was shattered, replaced by a sense of unease and danger. Their encounter with Mr. Diamond had been a wake-up call, a stark reminder of the forces they were up against.

As they navigated the treacherous waters of Diamond Island, they realized that the fight for truth and justice was not a simple quest for answers. It was a battle, a fight for survival against a powerful force that would stop at nothing to protect its secrets. They were no longer naive tourists, but seasoned warriors, their innocence sacrificed on the altar of truth.

The island’s dark secrets were slowly unfolding, revealing a sinister web of corruption, exploitation, and violence. Their search for answers led them to a world of hidden tunnels, secret rooms, and clandestine meetings, where the island’s true purpose was gradually exposed.

In the depths of Diamond Island, they discovered a network of illicit activities, fueled by greed and avarice. The island was not a haven for the wealthy and privileged, but a prison for the innocent, a place where dreams were shattered and hopes extinguished.

They encountered allies, unexpected heroes in the form of island locals and fellow guests, who had seen through the island’s deceptive facade and were willing to fight for their freedom. Together, they formed a fragile alliance, their shared experiences forging a bond that transcended their initial differences.

But their fight was fraught with danger. The island’s enforcers, shrouded in shadows and wielding power, were relentless in their pursuit. They were hunted, their every move monitored, their safety constantly threatened.

As they delved deeper into the island’s dark heart, the danger intensified. They faced perilous encounters, close calls, and desperate moments that tested their courage and pushed them to their limits.

But through it all, their bond remained unshaken. They were bound together by a shared sense of purpose, a commitment to expose the truth and fight for what was right. They knew that they had to continue, that they had to persevere, even if it meant risking everything.

The stakes were higher than they could have ever imagined. The island was not just a destination, it was a battleground, a place where the fight for freedom was waged with every breath, every step, every heartbeat.

And in the heart of this battle, Margarite and Natalie, two ordinary girls thrust into an extraordinary adventure, stood as symbols of hope, a testament to the power of courage and the resilience of the human spirit. They had a journey ahead, a dangerous path that would lead them to the heart of the island’s secrets, to the truth that lay buried beneath the shimmering surface of paradise.

Betrayal in Paradise

The air hung heavy with a humid stillness that seemed to press against the girls, an oppressive blanket over the paradise they had dreamt of. They were supposed to be celebrating, basking in the sun, enjoying the lavish amenities of Diamond Island.

But the luxury felt hollow, the champagne bitter on their tongues. The air wasn’t just thick with humidity; it was thick with secrets, whispers of deceit, and the constant
undercurrent of something far more sinister.

The girls had uncovered a journal, a hidden chronicle of a past they hadn’t even known existed, a past that mirrored the chilling truth of the present. It told the tale of an indigenous family who had lived on the island for generations, a family torn apart by the greed and deceit of those who wanted to claim the land for their own. The journal spoke of a hidden treasure, a family heirloom that had become the catalyst for their downfall.

The girls had made a promise to themselves, a pact to uncover the truth behind the island’s whispers, a pact that had grown stronger with every passing day. Yet, the darkness they had stumbled upon felt like a relentless tide, threatening to pull them under. They knew they had to confront the island’s owner, the man who held the keys to the secrets that had kept them locked in a web of suspicion and fear.

The girls found him in his opulent villa, a man of imposing stature and a countenance that reeked of power and an arrogance that seemed to pulsate from him. His eyes, cold and calculating, held a hint of amusement at their audacity, at their naive belief that they could challenge him.

Margarite and Natalie faced him, armed with the truth gleaned from the journal and their own growing intuition. They spoke of the family he had wronged, of the land he had stolen, of the hidden treasure he had profited from. His smile was a chilling
confirmation of their suspicions, a smile that spoke volumes about the depths of his cruelty.

“You girls are quite the detectives,” he chuckled, his voice a silken threat. “But you’ve wasted your time. The past is dead and buried, along with those who dared to stand against me.”

He was right. They had seen the shadows that lurked beneath the surface of Diamond Island. They had felt the chilling touch of fear, the insidious grip of danger. The girls had been warned about the island’s secrets, about the dark forces that resided within its pristine façade. But they had ignored those warnings, fueled by their thirst for adventure and the naive belief that they could right the wrongs of the past.

And now, the past was staring back at them, its chilling reflection mirroring the darkness that had begun to seep into their hearts. They were no longer naive, no longer innocent. The girls were hardened by the truth, scarred by the betrayal they had witnessed.

The betrayal hadn’t come from the island’s owner, the man they had expected to be their adversary. It had come from the very people they had trusted, the people who had promised to help them, the people who had promised to fight alongside them.

They had met a fellow vacationer, a charismatic woman who had offered her assistance, her knowledge of the island, her ability to help them navigate the treacherous waters they had found ourselves in. Margarite and Natalie had believed her, trusted her. They had let their guard down, thinking she was a beacon of light in the darkness, a lifeline in the storm.

But the darkness had seeped into her as well, twisting her intentions, corrupting her motives. She had been a pawn, a puppet in the island’s owner’s game, playing her part with a chilling brilliance that had masked her true allegiance.

The betrayal stung like a viper’s bite, leaving them reeling, lost in a sea of doubt and despair. They had been betrayed by the very people they had trusted, the people who had promised to stand by them, the people who had promised to fight for the truth.

Margarite and Natalie had come to Diamond Island seeking adventure, seeking the thrill of discovery, the satisfaction of unraveling a mystery. Instead, they had stumbled upon a nightmare, a chilling reflection of the darkness that lurks beneath the surface of even the most idyllic of paradises.

And they were left with a chilling realization: the only people the girls could truly trust were each other. Their friendship, forged in the fires of adversity, had become their lifeline, their anchor in the storm, their shield against the darkness that sought to consume them.

The girls had lost their innocence, but they had found something far more precious, something far more enduring: a strength that could only be found in the bonds of true friendship. And that strength, they knew, would be their weapon, their shield, their guiding light as tbhey navigated the treacherous waters of Diamond Island and faced the darkness that threatened to engulf them.

But the battle had only just begun. Margarite and Natalie had uncovered a truth that was too dangerous to ignore, a truth that was too powerful to keep hidden. And they were determined to expose

it, to bring the island’s secrets into the light, no matter the cost.

The path ahead was fraught with danger, the stakes were higher than they could have imagined, and the darkness they had encountered threatened to consume them. But they would not give up. They would not be silenced. They would not let their dreams of adventure turn into a nightmare. The girls would fight for the truth, for the memory of those who had been wronged, for the future of Diamond Island, and for the very soul of their friendship.

And Margarite and Natalie would do it together.
