Family Recipes Vol. 1 – Main Dishes and Desserts

I love traditions and things that are passed down generation to generation. And some of the best-loved traditions are recipes. My family and my husband’s family have recipes that have been a part of family gatherings, hunting trips, holidays, and church potlucks for three generations.

I am so excited to announce the release of a digital recipe book that includes 5 main dish recipes and 5 dessert recipes plus one BONUS main dish recipe. It is now available on Etsy and soon to be available on Amazon Kindle E-Books.

I hope one or all of these recipes make it to your family’s table.

My marriage, my kids,

What are you most proud of in your life?

My marriage – after 31 years, we are still going strong.  A milestone I do not take likely.  Through all the ups, downs, success, failures, we keep going with a sense of humor and commitment.

My kids – they are hard-working, well-read, respectful and ambitious.  I love helping with their creative pursuits!

Some days I really really….

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

Some days I really really really hate being so tall.  Many times people remark “oh I wish I could be tall or it must be nice being that tall ” Sometimes it really isn’t. You don’t get left alone in the grocery store because customers always want you to reach an item for them. People are uncomfortable around you when you tower over them and you’re usually smacking your head on something 🤣

Help me out here… what’s a lazy day 🤣

Do lazy days make you feel rested or unproductive?

I have no idea what this lazy day is that thou speakest.

Even if I am off from my job, I am working to grow my home-based business, cleaning, helping my husband or kids with projects, spoiling pets.  The only hobby I would put under the lazy category is when I take a walk in nature with my camera for my photo sites and decompress.  But it’s productive as it recharges my “batteries”.

Hands Down.   My Mom

When you think of the word “successful,” who’s the first person that comes to mind and why?

I would unequivocally have to say my mom. My dad left her when I was just 7 years old never to be seen again. She had three young daughters, no job, no friends. The only friends she had been around were his friends. She got work as a nurse’s aide in the long term care wing of the local hospital where she worked until she retired well after I was married, earning several pins and certificates for her compassionate care of elderly patients with Alzheimer’s, cancer, etc.  Even when we had little, she found ways to share with those who had less.

A simple list

What makes a good neighbor?

For the first time in about 12 years, we live in a neighborhood with great neighbors.  What I have observed:  the younger kids are respectful of the property around them. Not tearing across other yards with their bikes.  They have helped some of the older ones with yard work.  Driving in and out of the neighborhood people smile and wave, they visit at the mailbox. We had a 4th of July block party. We bring someone’s garbage cans out for pickup if they are gone on a trip.

TRIALS – What to do, what to do….

It is not hard to look around and see trials in abounding it seems. People recovering from hurricane damage, wildfires, job loss, disease, loss of a loved one.

Trials can be defined as a test of faith in which you experience trouble or adversity. God uses trials to condition our hearts for holiness and to increase our spiritual maturity.

When difficulties come into our lives, it is easy to grumble, complain and resist. Be encouraged this week ahead to see trials in a new light: to grow our faith, transform us and be used by God to prepare us for a special task.
