A blog where we can journey together for a healthier life
If humans had taglines, what would yours be?
“My productivity and positive outlook powered by coffee.”
What are the most important things needed to live a good life?
My list: a faith in God as He is who I turn to no matter the situation, integrity, a sense of humor, a spirit of contentment that what I own is enough, the ability to read.
Who do you spend the most time with?
Hands down my husband of 31 years. No contest.
If you had to change your name, what would your new name be?
I am pretty sure if I had a new name it would have to be one associated with coffee. Miss Arabica, Miss Espresso, Odyssey, or Lucy Latte 😂
Describe your dream chocolate bar.
I am no respecter of chocolate. I love dark chocolate, chocolate mint, with sea salt, with caramel. My dream chocolate is anything gifted to me by my husband or kids. On Mother’s Day the kitchen table looks like a chocolatier had a went out of business sale 😂
Do you remember your favorite book from childhood?
Any of the Trixie Belden mystery books by Julie Campbell. I grew up living right across from the public library. I spent hours in a beanbag by the window reading and rereading them!
List three books that have had an impact on you. Why?
My top three: first and foremost the Bible. I don’t start my day without my verse of the day. Favorite book: Proverbs. #2 The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People #3 The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership.
What fears have you overcome and how?
I am intensely afraid of snakes and bugs. I will jump 6 feet in the air, run, and scream for my son or husband to save me. Now I can at least reduce the jumping to 2 feet in the air, and now yell with authority to “Go away you evil creature.”
Describe one simple thing you do that brings joy to your life.
Due to our conflicting work schedules, my husband and I get Sunday mornings together before he heads to work. Our routine includes sausage McMuffins and hash browns and streaming our church’s service online. A joyful respite to the crazy 🤣
How do you know when it’s time to unplug? What do you do to make it happen?
I have been blessed with an upbeat, positive personality and the ability to handle pressure. In spite of that, there are times I can’t escape the feeling I am being crushed and weighted down by negativity, frustration. That’s when I know it’s time to get out the camera, hit the hiking trail and escape into the Washington woods and listen to nature. Refreshes my spirit every time.
