My middle name is the same as my maternal grandmother’s. She was a wonderful woman. Full-blooded Polish, she served as a nurse in World War II, and she taught me how to play tennis and how to roller skate and bought me my first pair of skates.

Family Name
The only significance I know regarding my name is that a great aunt on my Mom’s side inspired it. She emigrated to the United States from Poland. I was told she loved lipstick. She wore dresses and high-heeled shoes even grocery shopping. She called everyone a darling in Polish.
