“WE REMEMBER”

“We Remember”

On a September morning, beneath a brilliant sky,
Our nation heard a thunder and watched our freedom cry.
The world seemed to grow darker, the sorrow deep and wide,
Yet courage rose like a beacon as heroes stepped inside.

They ran toward the danger
While others ran away,
With courage in their hearts
And duty to obey.
They carried hope through smoke and flame,
They answered every call,
And though they could not know the cost,
They gave their lives for all.

We remember those who perished
In towers proud and tall,
The workers and the travelers,
The mothers, fathers, all.
We remember every precious life
That vanished far too soon,
And families whose hearts still ache
Beneath the sun and moon.

We remember those in uniform
Who climbed those endless stairs,
Who heard the cries of strangers
And carried them from there.
Firefighters, police officers,
Paramedics brave and true—
America will speak your names
And never forget you.

We remember those aboard the planes
Who faced an unknown fate,
And found within their final hours
The courage to act, not wait.
Their sacrifice became a shield
For countless lives that day,
A final act of selflessness
That time cannot erase away.

We remember all the heroes
Whose names we may not know,
The strangers helping strangers
In the midst of fear and woe.
They showed us that compassion
Can rise above despair,
And that even in our darkest hour,
A nation’s heart is there.

And we remember those who served
In years that followed on—
Who carried grief and memories
Long after that day was gone.
They stood beneath our flag of freedom,
Defending what we hold,
With courage forged in sacrifice
And hearts both brave and bold.

So let the flag keep waving
Beneath September skies.
Let freedom’s song keep ringing
And let remembrance rise.
For liberty is precious,
And courage has a cost—
We honor those who gave their all
And those who still are lost.

We will remember—not with hatred,
But with courage, faith, and grace.
We will remember every life
And every hero’s face.
We will stand together, hand in hand,
As one beneath the sky,
For freedom still is worth defending,
And love will never die.

So now that September has come again
And evening shadows fall,
Remember those who gave their lives,
Remember one and all.
Look upon our nation’s flag
And let your heart proclaim:

We remember.  We honor.  We give thanks.  And we will never forget their names.
